The Louvre Raised Its Prices, So I Got My Money's Worth
Visitors like me now pay thirty-two euros to see the Louvre. For that price, I expect the paintings to make an effort.
The Louvre raised its prices this year for visitors from outside Europe. Twenty-two euros became thirty-two. Some people complained. I didn’t. I paid, and then I made sure I got every euro’s worth.
The Famous Smiling Lady
Small painting. Behind glass. Surrounded by crowds all day. I know exactly how she feels. People say her eyes follow you around the room. Her eyes followed me. Specifically. I stood in front of her for forty-five minutes, because I’d paid for it. She kept smiling. Great stamina.
The Statue With No Arms
Beautiful statue. Somebody should find the arms. For thirty-two euros, you’d expect arms. I’ve offered a reward.
The Glass Pyramid
The entrance is a pyramid made of glass. Modern. Pointy. Much smaller than the ones in Egypt, which I’ve also reviewed, but I’m told it isn’t a competition.
My Receipt
Thirty-two euros. One painting stared at for forty-five minutes, one statue worried about, one pyramid compared. That’s under eleven euros an experience, and I used the bathroom twice. Best deal in Paris.
