My Garden (Somewhere Under It)
The Clues for My Garden Treasure Hunt
I buried a treasure in my garden and wrote riddles to help people find it. The riddles are hard. The answer is usually me.
Every good treasure hunt needs clues, and every good clue is a riddle. This summer I buried a treasure in my garden, drew a map with a big X and wrote five riddles. My guests had one afternoon to find it. Here are the clues, with the answers below.
The Clues
- I’m tall and handsome and stand by the gate. Look under my shadow, but don’t be late.
- I have a face and two hands, but I never wave. Look behind me.
- Birds take baths in me, and they don’t say thank you. Look underneath.
- I’m tall and handsome and stand by the pond. Yes, again.
- I’m the greatest treasure of all. Look at me.
The Answers
- The statue of me by the gate.
- The clock on the shed.
- The birdbath.
- The other statue of me, by the pond.
- Me.
Nobody found the treasure. By six o’clock, everyone was tired and muddy, so I dug it up myself and presented it to them. Inside the box was a small mirror. Look into it, and you see the greatest treasure of all. I tested it before I buried it. It works every time.
