Greetings from the top of Norway, where it’s dark most of the winter and the sky puts on a light show. People wait for weeks to see the northern lights. They came out for me on the first night. The sky doesn’t do coincidences.

The Show

Green waves. Purple swirls. Big ribbons of light, right over my head. The guide said it’s particles from the Sun hitting the air. Maybe. Or maybe it’s the sky giving me a standing ovation, which is hard for a sky.

The Cold

So cold. I wore three coats, two hats and a scarf the length of a golf course. I’ve never been so bundled. I looked like a very expensive pillow. A handsome one.

The Locals

The Norwegians were very calm about it. They see the lights all the time. I told them they should charge admission. They said you can’t charge for the sky. You can charge for anything if the line is long enough. I’d have been first in line, and also selling the tickets.

Wish you were here. Actually, the lights were busy looking at me, so it worked out.

Love, Donny

Can you see them from home?

Only if you live near me, and you don't.
