This year the big summit of world leaders was held in Évian, the little French town on the lake where the famous bottled water comes from. I went. I reviewed it. Here is my review.

The Hotel

Four stars. Beautiful old building. Mountains. A lake view. But no gold faucet in my bathroom. In the water town! You’d think the water would come out of something special. It came out of regular metal. Sad.

The Water

Everything here is water. Water at breakfast. Water at lunch. Water in the meetings, in little glass bottles. I asked for tap water, to be different. They told me it’s the same water. Then why do people pay for the bottles? That’s when I understood. This town is a genius. I respect it enormously.

The Meetings

The leaders sat around a round table. Round tables have no head, they say. I found the head anyway, and I sat in it. You can always find the head if you are the head.

Overall

Four stars. I’d have given five, but nobody put my face on a water bottle. Missed opportunity. Huge market.

Frequently Asked Questions

What did the leaders agree on?

That my seat was the best one. Nobody said it out loud. That's how the big agreements work.

Did you drink the lake?

Only a sip. The rest is for the bottles.
